{"id":254,"date":"2023-05-31T11:09:53","date_gmt":"2023-05-31T11:09:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.davidwoodcoaching.com\/?p=42"},"modified":"2023-05-31T11:09:53","modified_gmt":"2023-05-31T11:09:53","slug":"10-tips-for-business-owners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businessgrowthmadeeasy.com\/10-tips-for-business-owners\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Tips for Business Owners"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>One of my senior school teachers said I\u2019d never make anything of myself.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s say back then; I wasn\u2019t the academic type.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The words of the teacher have been my driving force ever since!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After leaving school, I qualified as a golf professional.&nbsp; Shortly after qualifying, I picked up a career-ending knee injury at 23.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I started my first business when I was 25 and sold it to Private Equity when I was 36.&nbsp; I also have Scaled and Sold Businesses up to \u00a330m+ revenue.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let me tell you. It wasn\u2019t all plain sailing. I lost everything in the 2008 crash and have had to rebuild twice from the bottom up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I can do it, anybody can.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA quitter never Wins, And A Winner never Quits\u201d!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thirteen years ago, I returned to one of the businesses I had sold a few years prior. The business was experiencing a significant downturn, and the new owners needed help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I agreed and returned to the business as a consultant.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the challenges were easy to fix and reverse the downward trend. Some, however, were not so easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I engaged with a Mentor and business coach to help me with the challenges I hadn\u2019t experienced before. Little did I know it was going to be a life-changing experience.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My passion for learning has grown by the day.&nbsp; I finally found a subject I loved, was passionate about and knew I could make a difference with my newfound skillsets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using my 30 years of experience, most of my time is now spent coaching other business owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am passionate about helping business owners scale their businesses, whilst improving all key metrics as we do it.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also help turn failing businesses into successful enterprises.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>10 key tips for business owners<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start with the end in mind (What&#8217;s your exit strategy)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a Vision all stakeholders buy into. As Simon Sinek say\u2019s \u201cIt Starts with Why\u201d you do what you do.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Goal Set like your life depends on it.&nbsp; It kind of does!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plan like a Pro.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Execute your plans like the SAS or Navy Seals. (Depending on where you are from).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay Consistent. Every Day turn up with your A-Game.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be Accountable, if you Screw up own it. The same goes for your team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make time for yourself, Physically and Mentally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn Daily.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help as many people as possible without expecting to receive something in return.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>One book I would highly recommend.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everybody should read or listen to \u201cYou can&#8217;t hurt me\u201d by David Goggins.
